Always knew some day you'd come walkin' back through my door.

One day left until I start to shut up about Indiana Jones!

Mrs. Wormer and the kids will be joining me at a local Megaplex tomorrow evening to see "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull."
As excited as I am to see the movie I would like to make it clear I'm not expecting great cinema. I don't imagine I'm going to be stirred to the depths of my soul by the imagery and story.

I do expect to have a good time. I expect a couple of laughs, a few groans and maybe a gag at whatever the gross-out scene is going to be.

I think it's fair to say that any problems the movie has will be squarely laid on the shoulders of George Lucas by fanboys. I'll be among them. From killing the Frank Darabont draft of the script to insisting on his personal McGuffin he's all ready done a little bit of damage to this project in my opinion.

I think this very funny short film "George Lucas In Love" captured his lack of creative process perfectly.

Lucas in love rules. A bit of a rip on an old Mad Magazine bit, but fantastic anyway. I can't remember where I saw it pre-youtube. USA's NightFlight, maybe?

Lucas had three great films and four great stories in him and that's it.

His re-working of Star Wars and the sequels were like Night Rider or REO Speedwagon going back on tour.

Oh, and I'm praying that the new Indy is more Raiders and less Doom/Crusade

Careful! If you mix too many George Lucas metaphors, you will get an action/adventure hangover!

We watched Shakespeare in Love this weekend which reminded me of this Lucas spoof. I like the Lucas spoof better.

"Lucas had three great films and four great stories in him and that's it."

Damn straight. As an artist I think he's an interesting psychological case. It's almost like a few bumps in the road (Howard the Duck, Willow, Michael Jackson) left him paralyzed with fear to try something new.

The Prequel Triology besides demonstrating horrible storytelling skills also show Lucas seems trapped in this story creatively. He uses the same damn planets, etc. over and over.

I hope it's close to Raiders but mostly that it's just a nostalgic good time. I loved these films as a kid.

The cure for an action/ adventure hangover is little hair of the dog in the form of the Die Hard series.

Am I the only person who didn't absolutely hate Willow? Sure, it wasn't The Greatest Adventure Movie Ever, but hey, dammit.

The SW prequels were cold, hollow. Sure the originals were cheesy, but cheesy with soul.

Randal: I didn't mind Willow! It definitely had some good moments.

If anything, it may have inspired Pratchett to create the Nac Mac Feegle

I just hope it's as good as temple of doom.

I'm gonna have to wait to see it.

Okay, I'll admit I like Willow. Mostly because of Val Kilmer who steals the film.

The Feegles spend their time drinking, fighting and stealing, alone or in various combinations.

I like the cut of their jib.

swinebread-

Me too.

I liked Willow alot too...all the actors did a fine good job! It's obvious they all had fun doing it...and I think the serious parts actually work well w/the comedic bits too!
