Um, where are the white women at?

There's an ongoing debate as a result of the Imus debacle from last week on whether or not it's appropriate for white folks, or black folks for that matter, to use the term "ho."

(AHEM)

Case closed.

Not to add any confusion to the issue but my heart is saddened today to learn of the loss of another famous Ho.

The mind reels at the incredible juxtaposition of hos. Can the universe really be this small?

Yes, it can. You bring up a good point. I've been called Ho, but the party referring was usually referring to the late Don Ho, may he rest in peace. There was not only a difference in meaning, but intent. Perhaps they meant I was a person that made people relaxed and happy, like Don Ho. I am not totally sure.

When speaking of the ebonic adaptation of whore known as "ho", the same thought process applies. Whether the intent is to demean women generally as in some music or to smear a group of championship caliber highly-achieving women because they are mostly black involves 2 different thought processes that each must be examined differently.

Both are wrong, but only one seeks to continue a history of mistreating an entire race of people.

Imus is a dick, so I don't give two fucks if he's toast.

Don Ho on the other hand was a nice guy...

"Ho" is a terrible word;

especially when what you really mean is "skank", (just visit any county fair, they're still there....just 20 years older!).

You know the word has gotten to be so well-used it's almost benign. I honestly believe what did Imus in was the "nappy-headed" comment. But Swine's right - Imus is a dick and deserved it.

Racism does suck.
