Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue.

Just went over to Google to check out the news. There are currently 959 stories about the Kerry gaffe.

I hope to hell this blows over soon. I don't have much more hair left to pull out over non-stories the conservative shills shove down our collective throats every election cycle.

Actually, this could be an opportunity to blunt any last minutes surprises. Neither Kerry nor Bush are on the ballot, so a heated public argument between them could overshadow Karl Rove 's last minute tricks against Democrats who ARE on the ballot.

Besides, Kerry shouldn't back down for what sounded to me like a flubbing of words. He might as well keep the rhetoric going because everything else he is saying is right on the money.

All in all, I don't see this as a big deal.

I've read elsewhere that it focuses the narrative on the Iraq war. Bad for the Rs. But the local media seems to be distorting it all out of proportion. If we do win this election, the first thing we need to do is push for media oversight. It's gotten way out of control.

I know. But you're a logical, smart, informed guy. In other words - an atypical American.

Whole thing makes me nervous.

It's weird because it really is a non-story droid. I don't care when Democratic corruption is covered but this faux-outrage stuff drives me batshiat.

Yep. Blows the whole Librul Media myth clean out of the water, and muddies the water as well.

I am reviewing what was said. The biggest buzz seems to be about the "getting stuck in Iraq" comment.

Well, he's about 90% right. The vast majority of people in the military are trying to use it as a stepping stone to a prosperity they were denied by circumstances. Now, some 100,000 of those 90% are indeed stuck in Iraq.

He might have bungled how he said it, but the facts are essentially true. Focusing on that would be a smarter move by Democrats than distancing themselves from Kerry.

I don't know if it will hit the media or not, but this was a good comeback:

Dean really hit the right message with that. If only the dems were organized enough to group around and repeat it.

Not not to mention Bush's willingess to leave U.S. troops behind this week.

Absolutely amazing that we're talking about Kerry's gaffe rather than that.

It was a joke and he blew the punch line. It should have been "getting US stuck in Iraq." One little two letter word dropped out of a punch line and the R's Smear Machine goes into overdrive.
