That's why you no liking us meesa thinks.

My 14-year old guitar playing daughter just replaced this poster...

...with this poster...

...on her bedroom wall.

This makes me happy on so many levels I'm unable to list them all here.

We also had a nice father/ daughter bonding moment as we burned the Jar Jar poster in the yard and cracked wise ("Meesa no likea the fire. No Ani, no.....")

Muhahaha!

Man that's a HUGE step up! It's like going from George Bush to Einstein.

Omigod, she's on acid!!! Promote virtue and prevent vice!

Whew! I'm okay...not sure what happened there. I expect a wicked awesome solo next time I visit.

I had a similar experience today and can seriously relate. I was on the phone with a friend and realized my six year-old son was totally making guitar sounds to the tune of Iron Man. I was so proud I even held up the phone so she could hear.

It almost brought a tear to my eye. I can relate.

Yet, I am not too new to the experience as my 15 year-old went through a Ween, Flaming Lips, David Bowie phase a year ago and has far surpassed us in coolness ever since. Be prepared to be uncool before very long.

I wonder what it would smell like to burn the actual Jar Jar.

I can't imagine it would be pleasant.

Is he an amphibian? I don't recall seeing any female... what the hell was he? I wonder if they lay eggs. I wonder how big those eggs would be.

Maybe I'm thinking way to much about this.

Dude, that both rocks and rolls. When you guys set the Jar Jar on fire, did you guys pull a Hendrix at Monterey?

I have to know what your reaction was when the JarJar poster first went up? Was it despair? Deep despair for the entire human race?

Nice to see a kid liking Jimi; hard to find a better musical (though not lifestyle) role-model. There are too few rock musicians out there and too many instrument players.

Poor Jar Jar. :o(

dave-

I like your analogy but if falls apart when you realize neither Bush nor Einstein can play the guitar.

Don-

At this point it would be hard to stop her playing you a solo. She plays that guitar pretty much every bit of free time she has.

It would be fun to find out!

As for the rest of your questions I think it's best not to dwell on the reproductive proclivities of cartoon critters.

randal-

Alas, no but that would've been perfect. I've shown her that video and she actually played the Star Spangled Banner on an electric guitar, dirty like Hendrix at a talent show a few years ago.

If she ever gets out the lighter fluid around her guitar I'd have kill her. Those things are expensive.

Despair? Sure. And glee. Uncontrollable glee mixed with confusion as to where the hell the Jar Jar poster came from in the first place because I certainly didn't buy it for her.

zaius-

Poor Jar Jar. :o(

Always had you pegged as a fish-man lover.

I'm betting that when you burned Jar Jar, there was not a great disturbance in the force. In fact, the force probably got better.

That kid of yours has renewed my faith in her generation.

Ha!

It was if thousands of cliched, stupid ideas in George Lucas' head all cried out in fear and were then silenced.

dr. monkey-

She is pretty cool.

Wow, that's a seriously cool daughter you have.

I think I was listening mostly to Elton John, Paul McCarney and Wings, and Queen when I was 14.

Yeah, I know. I was a serious geek. Someone should have done an intervention.

Thank you. We think so, too.

I loved McCartney and Queen at that age as well so that doesn't sound very geeky to me. :)

frederick-

Hope indeed.

annie-

The spice girls? You poor thing. I don't envy that.

Thanks re POP. Just trying to remind everyone there are real people on the other side of these monitors. :)

Arkonbey said...

Oh, yeah. Infinitely cooler to have a daughter into Jimi than into Somebody-or-Other Spice.

And Queen IS geeky ;) Did you know that Brian May has a degree in astrophysics? And his dad made him his guitar and that added to May's cool and unique sound.

I am so far behind on blog reading, let alone commenting.

Then I saw this and I thought - I do not have to read any further.

My faith in humankind is restored on this fine spring day.

Holy cow! I didn't know that. That story is great.

It's too bad he never turned his PHD thesis listed in that link Radial Velocities in the Zodiacal Dust Cloud into a song.

Fran-

Glad you're back. I keep checking your site for updates on the pope...

Swine-

Comment taken in the spirit it was intended. I think it's pretty damn cool too.

Well you will see one soon, one that never actually mentions his name, his ***-mobile or the ever popular ****on a rope!

Later or tomorrow I hope, it will be a mystery wrapped in an enigma.
