Just a couple of quick, fun and nerdy things-
Mystery Science Theater is returning. Sort of. The Film Crew compromises the three principles who were also writers- Mike Nelson, Bill Corbett and Kevin Murphy. They are releasing new dvds that've been given that MST touch. There aren't any robots or mad scientists behind the scenes but there's plenty of mocking of bad acting and styrofoam rocks. Sorrry - no Joel, either.
Doctor Who has returned for a third season and a new companion who, in my opinion, is hotter than Janet Fielding's Tegan. No word yet on when they'll broadcast in the states but their are alternatives... Nudge, nudge, wink, wink, saynomore, saynomore.
Rowan Atkinson has a new flick coming out. Sadly it's Mr. Bean and not Blackadder. Here's an interview where he talks about both and admits his admiration for Sacha Baron Cohen’s Borat. If you haven't seen "Keeping Mum" then I suggest you rent it. Atkinson shines in this very dark, dry comedy.
"Stardust" How the heck did fantasy/ sci-fi movie starring Peter 'O'Toole, Robert De Niro get by me? It looks to have a cool Terry Gilliam/ "Adventures of Baron Munchausen" vibe.

wow overload
No Bean, Yes Blackadder
Wow, another MST3K fan. I have many VHS tapes, need to switch to DVD!
It's not the same w/o Joel, I really didn't like it so much after he left (I never did get the whole Monkey, crazy lady, guy w/his brain in bowl thing either...).
I especially liked the invention exchange, which they seemed to immediatly do away w/once Joel was forced out/had "creative differences" or whatever it was that made things go wrong....
And yea, I like Blackadder much more than Mr. Bean too

I have one flick where Joel's invention is a hog-a-phone that plays wah-wah music like they used to use in Petticoat Junction. It looked like a pig crossed with an accordion and was just absurdly funny.
Personally I'm not to hard on Mike. He was the head writer behind the scenes so he did have a lot to do with the show's creativity before he got in front of the camera. I'm not familiar with what the politics of Joel leaving were, though...
My favorite MSTK has to be Eagaah! The guy that played Jaws in the James Bond movies starred as 10,000 year old caveman.
We should have a MST3K festival w/the kids! There all on VHS but I've got 2 of our all time favs-"The Magic Sword" and "Santa Claus & the Martians one...
And also
Girlstown (w/Mamie van Doren!)
The first MST3K Poopie
Tormented!
Fire Maidens from Outer Space
The Beatniks
The Rebel Set
The Day the Earth Froze (a funny 1930's Finnish myth movie!)
Attack of the Killer Shrews (dressed up dogs!)
Crash of the Moons
Monster-a-Go-Go (not kidding!)
Mitchell!
and the ultimate.....
MANOS, THE HANDS OF FATE!
Lemme know a time & date when you p/u your jaw off the floor...
That would be awesome and Mrs. Wormer is all for it.
I think I have a couple of good ones as well on DVD. "The Final Sacrafice" has terrific fun at the expense of Canada.
The kids love "killer shrews" especially the song.
Let's talk...
