You won't make me cry. You'll never make me cry!

I was woken this morning to the dulcet tones of the Highland pipes as played as the ringtone my the new phone Mrs. Wormer got me for my birthday and snuck under my pillow.

This still beats the birthday morning revenge had by my oldest daughter who woke me with a Hendrix rendition a couple of years ago. Anybody that's been to college probably has stories of horrible ways to be awoken from cold water to felt pens.

The electric guitar played dirty beats those all in spades. It's not so much the guitar but the slow gliding into conciousness with the sound of an amp powering up right next to your ear. The first thought going through your head is "this is going to be bad."

Anyhoo- I was checking out Rachel Maddow's website for her show and got a kick out of the juxtapositon of the viagra ad in the lower corner with the picture of McCain/ Palin. I know Maddow probably didn't do that on purpose but it still cracks me up for some reason.

Happy 29th! If Viagra is so great, why does it need so much advertising? I guess they need to burn off their profits somehow.

Speaking of guitar heroes, has the Wormer with the axe seen this one? Pretty cool stuff.

The side-effects from Viagra, or any of those other "pick-you-ups" are staggering.

Happy Birthday!

Was the amp all the way up to 11?

dean wormer,

Harry Truman was picked from obscurity a few weeks before the 1944 Democratic convention to run with FDR. It was well known that FDR was near death and he was expected to die if elected to a 4th term.

He obliged and croaked 82 days after his last inauguration.

Truman then took command of World War II. It was after FDR croaded that Truman was told about the atomic bomb, which he dropped on Japan and received Japan's surrender days later.

Truman suffered through the post-war period and had the lowest approval ratings of any president until Bush set new records in that department.

Today, Truman is well regarded. But he was a nobody senator who lacked a college degree in 1944 when FDR wanted a replacement for Henry Wallace.

When I'm old I won't be able to hear it anyway.

Showed it to her- she loved it. Thanks for the link.

It was also a black amp and I had to ask myself "how much blacker could it be?"

thanks for the birthday wishes!

You're right- the Highland pipes are better than the Irish.

Even with a bag of hardy troll bits(tm)?

Thank you!
