Happy Friday! I'm off to start another vat of Marionberry wine. Here's a couple of things on my mind today...
There was some talk about the conflict in Georgia being ginned up by the White House because Republicans felt it would help McCain's campaign. I pretty much shunned that off personally even with McCain holding a news conference and sending his diplomatic corps of dumbasses over to the region. With today's news that U.S. and Poland reached a missile defense deal I'm not so sure. How can that be seen as anything else than poking the hornet's nest?
Overdroid had a good experience guest starring on Desperate Housewives. Of course he was attacked by another ant while in his dressing room.
The 7 crappiest superheroes in comic books. Madam Fatal is my favorite. This guy's super power is that he dresses up like a woman. Seriously.
I'm excited about today's news conference on the recently discovered Bigfoot corpse. There's been some controversy because Bigfoot is usually found in the Pacific Northwest, not the South.
Hello! Isn't anyone familiar with the legend of Boggy Creek? You can even major in Boggy Creek monster studies at the University of Arkansas.

Screw Cracked... any character can be redeemed for modern readership. Alan Moore has taught us this lesson over and over.
Dazzler hit a nerve, didn't it?
Oh man, Boggy Creek, that brings me back!
So does the new Cold War. Sniff. So many memories.
The Whizzer made me think of The Whizzinator.
I think the complete insect takeover is only a matter of years.
oh hell you posted Mystery Science Theater....I am now in a MUCH better mood....just to let you know I am giving my kick ass awards this weekend( I would at this point rather give ASSES that need to be kicked awards....but ce la vie.) and yes, I posted a snitty NOT FEEL good post today....is this damn week over yet ???and why not ????
thank you for the MST...love it...it made everything so much better...
MST3K- you play me like a violin Dean!
Nope, the Whizzer
I hope Bigfoot is proved real so I can write him in on election day.
The 7 crappiest comic book superheroes? Elongated Man is very popular with the ladies, don't you know.
So is this crappy superheroes stuff anything like the classic movie "Mystery Men"?
I saw Boggy Creek and the sequel Return to Boggy Creek in the theaters.
Yes, I paid money to see them.
You can stop laughing now.
I thought Bigfoot was on vacation.
randal-
I loved watching Smith play ball at U of O.
I heard when he got caught with the Whizzinator at the airport he said "that's not my bag, baby" in an Austin Powers voice.
enigma-
So happy you liked the MST. I find it's something that cheers me up as well.
fran-
You like MST3K as well? Cool!
Swine-
He does sort of stand out on that list. The stuff on the first page is better.
ubermilf-
Alas, it was a scam. Color me shocked.
I hate those guys more than people that total skeptics. They're taking the mystery out of the world.
Not that I believe in Bigfoot...
zaius-
Oh behave!
liberality-
I love Mystery Men. Besides the dark humor it was nice to see Pee Wee Herman working again.
MWB-
I'd love to laugh at you but those that live in geek houses shouldn't throw action figures.

He's at a spa getting a pedicure.
Is that marionberry or blackberry? What is the difference anyway? (don't answer that: I am sure Wikipedia already has)
Don,
Off the top of my head- marionberry is a strain of blackberry developed in Marion county. They're much bigger and flavorful than traditional blackberries.
I don't have any on my property but did get some from a neighbor a couple of years ago and it made great, really sweet wine. This year we went to a u-pick nearby and picked about 40 pounds. You're going to be getting some of the wine it made soon. :-)
those are the best berries and the best wine in the world !!!!
if you need a taster...just yell....
( I used to help my grand dad make wine...it's wonderful waiting to see How it all turns out...)
enigma-
I learned about wine from my gramps as well. He made wine out of pretty much anything.
I'd be happy to share the marionberry, but it'll be a month or so before it's drinkable and I think about bottling it. ;-)
FYI I use professional stuff, carboys, airlocks and decontaminants so it's pretty safe --- other than a hangover because the stuff sneaks up on you.
Ahhh, that is nice..tradition ;-)
Yeah..my grandad Ted...made all kinds...plum and he had a friend shipped the marion berries out one year...and then the wine that we made that was the Best- definitely Dandelion....I spent alot of summers picking them out of people's yards....
( we tried rhubarb- NOT a good idea..and another year Peach...)
My grandad taught me how to operate a Ham radio and how to make "Damn Fine Wine"...( that is what he put on the labels- which I did for him in Calligraphy....)....
And yes I learned a little chemistry from it- especially a couple of times when things blew up....
( there were some fermenting issues....)
sigh...good times..
Thanks for the memories ;-)
Ted sounds like a great guy.
Plum makes great wine. I've got a cousin that's going to bring 25 pounds of pears over so I can make her a batch of that.
Never had an explosion issue but i count myself lucky as everybody else I know that's made homemade wine or beer has had something blow up at one time or another. Still- it's safer than making moonshine.
Moonshine. Hmmmmm.
The Explosion ( one of them) happened one night at Sunday Dinner...Ted " hmm, Now THAT is well aged".....
It was a mess...
and yes, plum is awesome...
hmmmm, moonshine...
