A tear shed at the passing of Peter Boyle. With very few actual lines he absolutely stole "Young Frankenstein." He parlayed a scary look and a gruff personality into a lifetime schtick but was supposedly one of the nicest guys in show business.
He inspired a lot more love than fear. RIP, sir.

Putting on the Ritz.
I remember seeing "Young Frankenstein" as a boy with the young Dean Wormer and some other Catholic school holligans. It was a double feature with "Phantom of the Paradise" at, I believe, the pre-brew pub Bagdad Theatre. My memory is a bit hazy but I remember that it was "Young Frankenstein" that inspired the budding young auteur Dean to make his own version of Frankenstein using a Super 8 camera. The Dean cast me as Igor. At the time I tried to convince myself that he had noticed my acting abilities but actually I was perfect for the role as I was scrawny and homely. Not much work ever actually got done on the film but we did have a great walnut fight in Dean's parents living room. A good time.
Thanks for the inspiration Mr. Boyle and RIP.
Aaron-
I'd forgotten all about that. Thanks for bringing back a happy memory!
