So once again, Jones, what was briefly yours is now mine.

One week until Indy!

In anticipation here's the trailer from that fan-film those two boys spent 6 years making. It's a shot for shot recreation of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Absolutely amazing.

That's what scares me.

One month until Indy!

This is going to be one of those rare films I actually see on opening night so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Please, please be good!

Also- Freida tagged me with the "six things you didn't know about me" game.

  • My undergraduate degree is in history with a focus on Spanish/ Latin American history.

  • I met my wife at a Halloween dance. I was a Frankenstein Monster and she was a six-foot tall Butterfinger Candy Bar.

  • I once got high in college by drinking an entire bottle of Robitusin DM. I saw Jerry Garcia in the clouds.

  • On a visit to Mexico City I did the special prayer for healing at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe. It took me five hours to crawl to the front of the sanctuary on my knees.

  • I'm a Trekkie. Of the old school variety.

  • I make a mean Enchiladas Verdes con Pollo. From scratch (except the tortillas.)

You're not the man I knew 10 years ago.

Good quality bootleg Indy trailer can be found here.

Official, high-quality trailer will be here later today.

The rational, grown-up part of me thinks about all the crap that went on behind the scenes plus the involvement of George Lucas and doubts. Luckily the twelve year-old boy in me grabs the grown-up me, puts him in a sleeper hold and stands on his prone, incapacitated body while he screams "Indy's back! Indy's back!"

Once the Raider's score kicks in he kicks the grown-up me for being such a douche in the first place.

The trailer has a perfect retro, old-school feel that makes be believe this movie is going to flat-out rock.

Speaking of douches: MSN published a list of the ten sexiest movie kisses this morning. They got a bunch of the greats but left off THE sexiest kiss of all time:

I don't believe in magic, a lot of superstitious hocus pocus.

Scenes you'd forgotten (or wish you had) Part 5: Indiana Cousteau - Namor's Illigitimate Son.

In Spielberg's classic film "Raiders of the Lost Ark" there remains one scene universally considered by fans of the film to be the Crazy Uncle in the Attic. It's the scene in movie filled with unbelievable stunts and dark magic that unfortunately pushes the button of unbelievability a little too hard.

Indy and Marian escape on a freighter with the Ark but are intercepted at sea by one of Hitler's U-boats. Indy hides on the ship but the Germans capture Marian and the Ark. As the U-boat is just about to leave the freighter's crew spot Indy swimming towards the submarine. Indy climbs abord the sub, scampers up to the control tower and looks around obviously as confused as the audience as to what the hell he's going to do next.

Will he tear open one of the hatches, incapacitate a crewman and hide on the sub until it's destination? Or will he cling to the side of the sub and hope that it doesn't submerge until it reaches it's destination? How will Indy beat the odds this time?

We don't really know because the next few shots are of the Captain of the U-boat ordering his crew to submerge, a map overlay of the U-boat travelling hundreds of miles while the crew go about their work, and the eventual arrival at a secret island U-boat base seen through the periscope (usually used while the sub is underwater if I'm not mistaken.)

Then we see Indy already in the base, dripping and catching his breath as he watches the same U-boat he caught a ride on pull into the cave.

Apparently Indiana Jones can...

A) Hold his breath for a hell of a long time or

B) Telepathically command his fish minions to carry him alongside submarines or

C) Teleport.
