Gratz to #1Animefan who graduated from middle school last night and scored an amazing 550 out of 550 possible points on hor 8th grade project/ autobiography.I'm a proud papa.
We had to brave a frikkin' thunderstorm with threat of tornado (TORNADO!) to get to the ceremony. This is Oregon not Kansas, right? Although we do have a little dog...
(On a side note- I've been to tons of graduations and promotions and last other than my daughter looking beautiful and getting her degree the ceremony itself was especially ponderous. An hour of listening to the "popular" girls in the glass sing off key karaoke is not exactly highlighting the school's cultural and artistic offerings.)
They had an hour of singing? What happened to the boring speech by some school district admin and the passing out of empty diploma envelopes? Is nothing sacred? I apologize for all of the questions.

ReplyDeleteAlso, I have to comment that I loved, no LOVED!!!!, that storm. From what I see in my newsies though, it was much more damaging in the Portland area than down here in Cowvallis. [sic, he said]

so verbose, everyone complains...we decided never to go again (unless Beaniac really wanted us too...she really didn't care)

Glad you weathered the storm. Ours was mostly a very violent windstorm with moderate rain and just a couple thunderclap. The first 30 seconds did all the damage here with wind. I got pollen all over my BBQ.
Oh the horror! And the storm too. That's freaky man. Oregon? WTF? I live in Utah where it's hot and dry from May to October and snows all damn winter. That's as it should be in this hell hole, but this Spring it's rained and been overly cool. Now it's June and it's still wet and cool. WTF? This is freaky. Sorry, I already said that. I could fix it, but since you're willing to sit through an hour of karaoke singing from a bunch of popular girls, you'll probably tollerate my misspelled and wordy comment just to say nothing in as many words as possible because I wasn't one of the popular girls and nobody sat and listened to me warble tunelessly for five eeeffing minutes. What/'s wrong weith this worl?

I just had Wizard of Oz in my head anyways because of the tornado and then recalled there was a graduation ceremony of sorts in that film. In short - IMDB.
The storm was exciting. I was driving through Gresham when it hit our area and the clouds scared me. They were dark black and low- not something we see around here. Also- radio went on emergency broadcast right at that time.
