From what I have read, the Canada Geese we see all year round here in the metro area don't migrate at all anymore. Some of them had their wings clipped so they'd stay around and be available for hunting purposes by humans so their descendents got used to living here - plus the abundance of office parks and other grassy areas is a boon to them, especially now that the winters are milder than they once were (this one notwithstanding). So it's probably all our own fault that these geese here all year and are flying into airplane engines. They would only be here for a short period while they migrated otherwise.
