They're cheesy summer reading but one thing J.K. Rowling does well which reaches the level of the best of fantasy is create a persistent alternative universe with it's own rules and norms and stick with it through the whole series.
They're also obviously a guilty pleasure of mine.

Forget the three nominees for President. I've found a candidate I can really believe in. 
I still haven't read any of those books. Are they actually good?
